Tails Pet Supplements - Product Review

Do you take a vitamin everyday?  I do!
I have taken joint supplements since I had patella surgery at 7 months old.   Last year, at  BarkWorld 2012, I attended a breakfast sponsored by Tails Pet Supplements.   The breakfast was about pet health and supplements.
During the breakfast, I learned that a multivitamin could be beneficial for most dogs and cats.
Humans take supplements to help them stay healthy; animals can benefit in the same ways.   Extra antioxidants could help us fight free radicals.    It seems like each year I hear about more and more pals who have lumps and cancers.   I am scared by this trend.  Since antioxidants help fight free radicals, I imagine it would be good to have more antioxidants.   If a multivitamin could help me have a better chance of avoiding cancer, I will happily eat it.
During the talk at the Tails breakfast, it was pointed out that we are much closer to the ground than humans are.   This means that we are probably breathing in all sorts of nasty things like road dust.  Road dust is mostly tiny bits of tire rubber and road tar.   It has free radicals in it.    I bet that is what turns Baron's paw fur black when he walks on the road!   Yuck!  I don't want that in me.   I think I should get more antioxidants to fight that nasty stuff.
I realize most of us eat a balanced diet that supplies the necessary vitamins and minerals we need to survive.   Usually the vitamins in pet food have been cooked.  I don't know, but I hear that some vitamins may be more potent if they haven't been cooked.  I will eat a multivitamin, just in case.  BOL!
Before we learned about Tails Pet Supplements Hip Hip Hooray, I would get 2 joint supplement chews each night.  One for the Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and another one for EPA.  The EPA (an Omega 3 acid) is supposed to help prevent cartilage from breaking down.   Hip Hip Hooray contains EPA, so now I only need one joint supplement.   I didn't mind eating 2 chews, but Mom has that thing about my calories.    Although, since I also get a multivitamin now, I still get two treats (supplement chews).  BOL!!

I was advised that any brand of supplement would be good, as long as it has the NASC seal on it.  The NASC seal means that the manufacturer has passed specific inspections and audits.   The NASC seal is an assurance of quality and proper labeling, among other things.   Tails Pet Supplements have the NASC seal on the bag.
You may have noticed this "product review" was more about the importance of supplements instead of the actual product.  There is a reason.  Tails Pet Supplements feels it is most impawtant to get the message about the health benefits of supplements to as many dog and cat owners as possible.    I am very impressed that they are more concerned about education than about numbers.   Tails Pet Supplements are top notch.   Mom has purchased several bags of Tails Pet Supplements for me since I finished the bag from BarkWorld.
As if all this weren't pawsome enough, a portion of the proceeds from every Tails Pet Supplement purchase is donated to the Tails To The Rescue Fund.  The Fund helps pets of needy families get the medical care they need, plus other good works to help animals.  To me, it means that in addition to health benefits I receive from quality supplements, I also get a warm fuzzy feeling.

Do you take a daily supplement?   Does it have the NASC seal?

  1. This is a really helpful post Pepper! I haven't thought much about supplements, but now I think I will. I'm sad I won't be able to attend Barkworld this year since it seemed so helpful. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Mommy takes supplements, but the only thing she gives us is Omega 3 oil on our din-din. She'll have to look into this, and talk to our vet!
