Puppy-sitting!

Last weekend I got to puppy-sit my new cousins!  Their mom dropped them off on Friday morning and picked them up Sunday afternoon.
Puppies are a lot more work than mom remembers.  BOL!!  I was an easy puppy.  I was happy with puppy chews and toys, I didn't try to eat her stuff or the house, and I was ONE puppy.  Well...............
these two sure kept mom on her toes!  BOL!!  They try to eat everything!  They are particularly fond of trash, lint, tape.... and so the list goes.  These puppies jump too!  They jump as high as mom's knees, then they bite and hang on to her short's hem!  They like to try to bite noses and knees too.  Sometimes they jump so high, they do a flip!  Also, they are not potty trained yet!  They are still babies.

I must admit, I was not pleased to have them in my house.   I barked at them, they barked back!  It soon became a fun game to bark at each other through the baby gate.  BOL!!  Every time I noticed them moving around in the gated area, I'd run over and bark, and they'd bark back!  FUN!!

I tolerated them as long as they stayed on their side of the gate.  I did NOT want them near my bowls, chews, toys, games, and crate!  My stuff is MINE!  Like many Poms, I have a possessive streak.  I think it comes from our herding ancestry.
I liked them much more outside!  BOL!!  I still didn't want them in my face, as long as they stayed a foot away, I was fine.  If they came closer I gave warnings, like turning my head away, curling a lip, and standing up to leave.   I haven't allowed them close enough to play yet, maybe when they are older and calm down a little.  BOL!!

So there ya'll have it, my first meeting with the puppy cousins!  Mom says we will go to their house next time, maybe I will be friendlier if I don't have my stuff to protect.  I don't know about that, we'll see.

I would love to hear of your experiences meeting puppies if you are an adult dog, and if you are a puppy, tell me about meeting an adult dog!

  5. HiYa Pepper! It's nice that you are able to teach your young pup cousins some manners when it comes to meeting other doggies. :-) Hope their visit was short and sweet for you.

Thank You Foxwhiler for sharing the Videos... LOVED THEM!!!!
You are so Beautiful, but you already know that... Love the tail so fluffy and soft. Question... Does your Momma person tell you the dreaded N word when you are too stearn with the babies or does she just let you train then like they need to be trained?
Max aka Gator Lips the Swamp Dawg
p.s. the N word is NOOOOOOOO BOL

    1. Thank you Max. Mom tells me eh-eh or no and gets in between us if I try to get a little too stern with them. She says they are still babies, but when they are more my size, she might not interfere, we'll see. I tried to explain that there are two of them, so that evens things out. BOL!!

  8. I haven't spent any time with puppies since I've grown up. There is some talk about getting a new puppy for me here, but I'm not sure how I feel about that!

    1. Thank you Oskar! I guess it depends on how you feel about other dogs and sharing. There seems to be a lot of sharing involved with puppies. Please keep me posted and GOOD LUCK!
