Princess Pepper and the Great Flea Invasion #Seresto

This fairytale is brought to you by Bayer, the maker of

Once upon a time (about 5 years ago) Princess Pepper was forced to battle a giant flea invasion.  How did this happen?  It all started when I moved into a rental home.

I had been warned that there might be a few fleas left by the previous tenant, but the house would be treated before I moved in.  To be on the safe side, I ordered my people to set off flea bombs before they moved any of my belongings inside the house.  I really thought that would be the end of the flea issue.    However, I was viciously attacked by dozens of fleas the night I arrived.  I summoned the landlord and explained the problem.  The house was treated again, and my people bombed it once more for good measure.
One year old, not my full adult Pom coat.  Beginning of Flea War.
Believe it or not, the pests were still there.  The villains continued to attack my furry self, they even attacked Mom's ankles.  "This is ridiculous!" I growled to the pests in my fur.  "I have flea protection, so I should not be subjected to this invasion."  Alas, my old protection was not strong enough against this army of fleas.  I needed something better.   I visited my new vet and was given a 24 hour flea killing pill.  After the 24 hours, I was subjected to a bath in Dawn dish soap to ensure all of the pests were killed.
1.4 years old, my fur is still growing.
The house and yard needed to be treated since the invaders were so entrenched.  My people immediately started spraying poison on the yard and carpets.  They had to repeat this process every few weeks until the pests were no more.  I needed to upgrade my personal flea protection as well.  Unfortunately Seresto had not been invented at the time.  Luckily, Bayer (the inventor of Seresto) had a different flea protection available.  My new vet provided me with Advantix from Bayer, which I continued to use until I was introduced to Seresto.
1.5 years old, still growing my coat.  End of Flea War.
My kingdom was at war with the fleas for about 6 months before they retreated and were no longer seen.   The poisonous battle was rather costly as well.  By the end of the war my people had used at least 12 cans of carpet spray, 2 jars of carpet powder from the vet, 4 bottles of yard spray attached to the hose, 2 bags of granules sprinkled on the yard, and 2 cheap flea collars (the old fashioned type that aren't exactly safe to wear) cut into pieces inside the vacuum bag (to kill any hatching eggs that had been sucked up).   This was all in addition to the 2 professional pest control visits, 2 flea bomb sessions, the flea pill, the Dawn bath, and upgrading my personal protection to Advantix.
6.5 years old, in my full adult Pom coat.  I am wearing my Seresto collar in this photo, it doesn't show with all my fur.
I hope I never need to face such a difficult battle again.  If only the previous renters had used flea protection on their dog, it all could have been avoided.   After that war, I consider not using flea protection to be just as rude and polluting as not scooping ones poop!  Please be polite and use flea protection instead of spreading around the pests and all the health issues that come with them.   Seresto has been my personal flea protection of choice ever since my review in 2013.

  1. Great Dog, Pepper! That was some flea invasion! I cannot even imagine what it must have been like living in that house with all those pests around all the time. With my flea allergy, I would have been an itchy mess with no fur! OMD. I am glad to hear that you have been using the Seresto collar and that it works. I am testing mine out now...it's the very first one I've ever tried...and I have my paws crossed that it will kill every pest!
    Great post!

    1. Oh Oz, you would look like a Chinese Crested if you had a flea invasion! I did get a little flea allergy during the infestation. I kept my fur, but some of the bites were filled with green pus. Benadryl helped reduce the itching until the pests were gone. I guess I should have included the vet visits and Benadryl among the expenses for the war. BOL!
      Hugs,

    1. I am happy you never met a flea. I had protection too, but these pests were immune and entrenched in the carpet. I had not met a flea until we moved into this house. I am glad we were able to get rid of them. BOL!

  5. I like that I can now run in the fields and high grass and not worry about being attacked by fleas or ticks. I am the invisible poodle with my Seresto. It makes you feel like a SuperDog!!!
FYI I had someone ask me if it would work well on a fluffy dog and I told them it worked for the fluffiest pom I knew so it would work for them too.
