Kol's K9 Kamp - Challenge #1 - Walking on Sunshine

This week's K9 Kamp Challenge was to go for more walks, different walks, longer walks, or harder walks.  I must confess I did not get a walk everyday.  We joined the challenge a few days late I think, but we are still allowed to play.

Where I live it is HOT, not warm, HOT!  It is also humid, so panting and sweating don't cool you off very well.  Remember, I have a long, thick, double coat of fur.  The pavement gets very hot, hot enough to burn paws.  Which is why mom carries me across the parking lots and roads in Summer.  By the time it cooled off last year, I thought I wasn't allowed to cross the road, and would freeze after a few steps, waiting to be carried.  BOL!!  Mom is hoping that doesn't happen again this year.  When we signed up for K9 Kamp, mom ordered some shoes for me.  Well, we all know I am not pleased about that.  SO......Our first challenge is to actually convince me to wear and walk in the shoes.  BOL!!  That will be major accomplishment itself!  My shoes are pink mesh sandals Mom ordered from Nip and Bones .

Mom thinks they will be cooler for me than boots would be.  She hopes, they will be easier to put on me than the socks she tried.  BOL!!  The shoes won't have time to arrive before the first Challenge (this post) is due.  But Mom still plans to make me wear them and go for walks.

Earlier this year, Mom ordered a Chilly Pup Vest from GlacierTek .  It was a little large, so mom sewed a pouch to hold one of the chilly paks on my tummy when it is attached to my harness.  At least I will have some help staying cool in this heat.

On Saturday, we went to a pawty at the cookie store 3 Dogs & a Chick .  I did walk around the store until I was tired.  Then I sat and made Mom carry me.  (Mom allows this because I had surgery on both knees as a puppy, and there are 2 pins in one of them.)

On Wednesday, we went to Mom's sister's house.  She has a HUGE yard that I was allowed to walk around, explore, and mark!  Mom let me drag my leash so I could explore more freely.   One of the puppies decided my leash looked like a fun toy, so she grabbed it.  It looked like she was walking me!  BOL!!

When the nieces got out of school, we went downtown for lunch, so I went for a walk on the covered sidewalk in front of all the shops.  I got tired about a block from the parking lot and mom had to carry me back to the car.

At least I was able to have a few nice walks this week.   On the days we didn't go for a walk, I played fetch with my stuffies inside the house.   I also have a stuffie on a pole that I can chase while Mom swings it around the room!

Have any of you ever been "walked" by another dog??

  1. Oh, Pepper, that is the cutest video EVER! I want to see a video with your Mom trying to get the shoes on you. My Mom thinks they are adorable, but she also knows that it may take some getting used to.

I cannot say that another dog has ever walked ME. But, I often grab my own leash from Mom and start walking myself with it. Does that count? BOL

  2. BOL, Pepper! Those sandals look pretty cool! I think you should give them a chance!

I've nevfur been walked by another dog exactly, but Winkie and I have this tandem leash mommy uses. One of us is always dragging the other one off in a different direction! It's especially annoying if you're trying to...well, you know! It looks like you let the puppy know you were in charge!

    1. Hi Hershey! Mom says I HAVE to try the sandals. BOL!! Ummmm....I can imagine having another dog pulling on your leash would be awkward at certain times. BOL!! (I have done that to Baron when we used a coupler. BOL!!) I didn't let that puppy stop me! BOL!!

    1. Hi Liz and Daisy! BOL!!! It isn't too bad if you are stronger than the pup holing your leash. I don't think I'd like it if the pup was strong enough to stop me. BOL!!

  5. Pepper is adorable. I think she'd get along with baby Pom. JR would fight clothes and shoes but baby Pom loves it all! Come check out how we did with JR and Baby Pom over at <a href="http://whirlwindofsurprises.com>Whirlwind of Surprises</a>

    1. Hi! BabyPom is adorable!! JR is really cute, looks ready to play all the time! I am fine with clothes, but not find of things on my paws or face. Mom never did get me to wear Doggles. BOL!! These sandals look like they will be mnore comfortable than other footwear she's seen for dogs. Hoping they will be fairly easy to put on.

    1. Hi Kolchak! I love the stuffie on a pole!! I already broke the squeaky, mom will have to put a new squeaky in it the next time she does some hand sewing! I would love to win a new one!
BOL!! I think a lot of pups want to see the sandals! Lots of pals know that when I don't like something, I REFUSE to allow it. I can be extremely stubborn! BOL!!

  8. Hello Pepper,
Gretchen here, wanted to tell you that every time mom & dad put the leash on me before we leave the house Daisy grabs my leash and walks me around the house. I always walk in the other direction though and I am bigger, so I end up pulling her around. It's so funny and makes mom & dad laugh.
    Hugs
